His “art auctions” are actually the selling of pictures of high-profile military leaders in compromising situations, but the project fails at the hand of Bond’s daughter Mata, leading to his death in an explosive telephone booth.

The head of MI6 visits David Niven’s retired Sir James Bond with an entourage of spy world leaders to coax him out of retirement. They all want Bond to help in ridding the world of SMERSH who has been killing agents. Bond dismisses the call to arms on account of M’s “flame throwing fountain pens,” being joke spies. Eventually, M orders a mortar attack on Bond’s mansion because of his refusal to come back, killing himself in the process.
